Ħondoq Bay, Gozo: Beach Visit or Coastal Boat Trip?

Plan a visit to Ħondoq ir-Rummien near Qala, Gozo. Compare a beach day with a coastal boat trip and understand what to check about landing and transport.

Before you go

Ħondoq ir-Rummien is a Gozo beach destination near Qala. A tour with Gozo coastal views does not automatically include landing or beach time there.

Ħondoq Bay is often searched for as Hondoq ir-Rummien or Ħondoq ir-Rummien. It is a popular swimming place in the Qala area of Gozo, with views towards Comino. If you are planning a Comino boat trip, it is useful to separate visiting the beach from passing along this part of the coast.

What kind of visit do you want?

A beach day involves getting to the bay, carrying what you need ashore and arranging your onward journey. A coastal boat trip focuses on the route from the water and the stops included in your selected departure.

Neither option is automatically better. Choose the beach if time on land is central to your plans; choose the boat experience if you want a shared coastal journey and swimming opportunities arranged as part of the trip.

Does a Comino tour include Ħondoq Bay?

Not simply because the description mentions Gozo. Coastal sightseeing, swimming near the island and a beach landing are different arrangements. Check the actual product details and ask about Ħondoq by name if it matters to your group.

Our shared tours leave from Ċirkewwa in Mellieħa. They are boat excursions rather than a general transfer service that can drop every guest at a separate destination.

Compare the bay with the nearby landmarks

Halfa Rock, sometimes called Promise Rock, is another name you may see in descriptions of the south-eastern Gozo coast. Knowing the names helps you recognise a route, but it should not turn into an assumption that all places are visited on every departure.

For a broader view, the Gozo coastal-trip guide explains the difference between seeing the island from a boat and exploring its towns and inland sights.

Prepare for your transport and time ashore

If you are visiting independently, check the current transport arrangements for your date and allow time for the return. Pack drinking water and sun protection, and confirm the facilities you intend to rely on.

If you are booking a boat tour, check the meeting point, duration and product inclusions instead. Discuss children, boarding assistance or a particular swimming requirement before paying so the operator can explain suitability.

Build a day that fits your plans

Contact the crew if you are trying to combine a Comino trip with Ħondoq or another Gozo destination. Once you understand the arrangements, compare our tours and choose an available departure. Keeping a beach visit and a coastal excursion distinct makes the day easier to organise.
