Gozo can mean very different things on a holiday itinerary. You might want coastal scenery and swimming, a beach day, or time to explore towns, historic sites and the island’s interior. Deciding which version you want is the best way to choose the right trip.

What does seeing Gozo by boat involve?

A coastal boat trip shows the island from the water. Depending on the product and conditions, the route may take in stretches of the coast or landmarks such as Halfa Rock. This is a different experience from arriving on Gozo and spending the day travelling around it.

When comparing Comino and Gozo tours, read whether the product describes views, a swimming stop or time ashore. The words “Gozo included” are not enough to tell you how your day will work.

When is a land visit the better fit?

If Victoria and the Citadel, villages or inland sights are your main priorities, choose a plan with time on the island itself. Account for the crossing, getting around and the return trip, rather than treating those sights as an extra stop on a coastal cruise.

A land visit and a boat trip can fit into the same holiday, but they do not need to compete for one afternoon. Leaving each its own space makes your schedule more realistic.

What about Gozo’s beaches and small coastal landmarks?

Ħondoq ir-Rummien is a beach destination near Qala. Promise Rock or Halfa Rock is a separate coastal landmark. Understanding that distinction helps you ask an operator the right questions about swimming, scenery and landing.
