Before you go
Choose the experience as well as the departure time: a small boat can take you into Crystal Lagoon and suitable sea caves. A Blue Lagoon transfer serves a different purpose.
If you want more from Comino than a drop-off at the Blue Lagoon, boat size matters. A small-group boat tour combines time on the water with access to Crystal Lagoon and suitable sea caves. Comino Land departs from Ċirkewwa in Mellieħa, with a local crew and shared departures.
What is different about a small boat?
A small boat can reach coastal places that a large ship cannot fit into. On our tours, that means the opportunity to enter suitable sea caves and visit Crystal Lagoon for swimming. You share the journey with a small group rather than booking the whole boat.
Crystal Lagoon: make room for a swimming stop
Crystal Lagoon is a separate stop from the Blue Lagoon. When conditions are suitable, our boat takes you into the lagoon so you can swim from the boat and enjoy the limestone scenery. A scenic pass and a swimming stop offer different experiences, so check the departure details before you book.
Sea caves: see the coast from inside
Being able to fit inside suitable sea caves is one of the reasons to choose a small boat. Larger ships cannot enter openings they are too big for. Our captain decides which caves are suitable to enter on the day; waves, wind and the available space can change the route.
Explore Comino’s sea caves with our local crew. The captain chooses the route and cave approaches for your departure.
Small-group tour or Blue Lagoon transfer?
A transfer is useful when your priority is getting to the Blue Lagoon and spending time there. A small-group sightseeing tour is a better fit when you want swimming stops, lagoon scenery and the sea caves in one outing. Compare the actual itinerary: larger boats and different operators offer different routes, so boat size alone does not tell you every stop.
Look for clear answers to three questions: does the trip stop at Crystal Lagoon, can the boat enter sea caves, and how are stops adjusted for the conditions? Then compare the departure time, facilities and booking terms.
What comes with your Comino Land trip?
Free use of stand-up paddle boards, swim noodles and life jackets helps you enjoy the swimming stops. Snorkelling masks can be rented for €5. There is an onboard toilet, a shaded canopy and cold drinks available to buy. These practical details matter when you are spending several hours on the water.
Going ashore at the Blue Lagoon is optional. If you want to disembark, arrange the separate free landing pass through the official booking website. You can also stay aboard and swim from the boat during the stop.
